Making America Modern

In the 1930s, designers in the U.S. put their own unique spin on Art Deco and other modern styles that had already made a splash in Europe. Join design historian Marilyn Friedman, author of the new book Making America Modern: Interior Design in the 1930s, as she discusses how luminaries like Donald Deskey, Paul T. Frankl, and Kem Weber transformed American interiors by embracing a brand-new aesthetic of simplicity, practicality, and comfort.

Please join us at 6pm for a pre-lecture tour of Deco: Luxury to Mass Market.

FIU faculty and students will be required to provide their OneCard or Panther ID at check in.
